Is therapy helpful??

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

This is a question most People ask when they are in an ambivalent stage of seeking help.

As humans, while in difficult situations, it’s normal to look for the magic wand that will ease the pains, whatever that might look like ( sitting with a therapist, talking to strangers, venting to friends, bottling emotions, and minimizing).

Dealing with Grief, How long does the grieving process last

An excellent way to answer the question above is to ask:

What if I am the magic wand?

What will happen if I try therapy and it does not help?

What if there is no magic wand?

Dealing with grief. How can I cope with the loss of a loved one?

Therapists help you realise the innate potential that enables you to manage challenging life situations. Look at it as the therapist helping you discover how powerful you are, supporting you to articulate answers to the questions you bring to a session.

Setting Realistic expectations/timelines with your therapist is key to getting the best outcome from therapy. You don't need to have all the answers. If you are reading this then you are already winning!
